Zandra Rhodes - July 2025
I achieved a placement opportunity where I spent time working alongside Dame Zandra Rhodes in her studio. Throughout my placement, I was given tasks inspired by her previous designs, which challenged me to create new work in her iconic style. I developed initial drawings before digitally transforming them into repeat designs. I gained valuable knowledge working in an industry environment with one of the world's most influential textile designers.
New Designers - July 2025
New Designers 2025 - A chance to showcase my Final Major Project 'Ventnor Botanic Garden' which I completed at Arts University Bournemouth. It was also an opportunity to discover other artists and designers for inspiration and potential collaborations, including meeting Dame Zandra Rhodes and subsequently completing a placement at her studio.
Batsford Prize - July 2025
Shortlisted for the Batsford prize 2025 with the theme 'Fun and play'. This collection 'The Art of Utility' was inspired by everyday household objects, where I was challenged to take something considered boring and transform it into a design that is interesting and playful.
AUB Undergraduate Show - May 2025
Exhibiting my work at the undergraduate shows at Arts University Bournemouth. A final celebration of completing my Textiles degree and showcasing the best of my final year projects.
Jane Crofts Designs - May 2023
Placement with Jane Crofts Designs, where I experienced working in an active print studio. I demonstrated my design and printing skills when creating beautiful linen lampshades inspired by the south coast. Examples of skills that I used included screen-printing, hand sewing and stencil printing. I also learnt industry experience working alongside Jane in her coastal studio, whilst getting an insight into a busy independent textile business.
Exhibiting handmade miniature kimonos at a local independent arts centre, on the Isle Of Wight. My piece is on the right of the display, with a pink Obi (belt) consisting of approximately 700 tiny hand sewn beads. The project looked at the traditional Japanese methods of creating a kimono, with the Obi matching the garment.
